I was granted my Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Curriculum, Instruction, & Teacher Education (CITE) in December 2013. I completed my course requirements between 2004-2009 while splitting my time as a graduate student between the College of Education’s Department of Teacher Education and the College of Natural Science’s Biological Science Program.

Although the area of emphasis of my doctorate is in science education, I am deeply interested in teaching and learning as it is practiced in all of the so-called STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics), as well as in the fast-growing STEAM movement (science, technology, engineering, arts/humanities, & mathematics).
