Focusing Questions
Summary
Primary informed by critical education studies, new cultural anthropology, and various inflections within the humanities (including scientific, environmental, and artistic humanities), I outline and juxtapose the key contours of both Holocene and Anthropocene pedagogies. Finally, I argue that educational systems urgently need Anthropocene pedagogies attendant to the full scope and scale of the radically–and demonstrably–altered relationship between humans and the Earth. This is a call for a world-centered pedagogy, but for an Anthropocenic rather than a Holocenic world.
